Winter Access
The road, from bottom to top, is very well maintained and sloped all year round, but winter access to The Domestead depends on snow conditions and mountain weather.
When conditions allow, guests may drive all the way to the dome in a AWD or 4WD vehicle (required). As of 1/7/26 snow tires have not been required but conditions can change quickly so please plan accordingly.
After snowfall, vehicle access may be temporarily restricted for safety. During these times, guests may access The Domestead by walking, hiking on packed snow, or snowshoeing along the access road. Snowshoes are provided when needed, and this approach is part of the quiet, immersive winter experience.
For added convenience, host-assisted transportation can be made available for an additional fee using a tracked ATV or snowmobile, depending on conditions. This service can transport guests and/or gear and must be reserved in advance.
We have been accessing the Domestead for many years in all types of conditions, we closely monitor conditions and will communicate with you before arrival to help determine the best and safest access option.
Summer & Shoulder Season
Access In snow-free months, The Domestead is easily accessible by vehicle. Guests may also choose to hike the dome if they wish.
